I wrote a short article on my site listing all of the options I know about
and the public information they disclose about payment at

The long and the short of it is that Surf and Sip and Fatport are your two
likeliest candidates for simplicity and multiple options, while still
connecting you to Boingo customers who might wander by.

I can't comment on the technical or professional advantages of either, and
there are definitely some reasons for particular venues or businesses to
examine the other options.

Interestingly, Boingo's CEO announced at the 802.11 Planet conference on
Wednesday that they were working with various consumer and enterprise access
point makers to offer a Boingo Ready brand, so you'd buy, say, a commodity
Linksys unit and it would have the ability to be easily turned into a Boingo
node. We'll see how that all pans out, but it's an interesting idea.
