Ok,

I gues the cross-bay link might turn out to be a little more than I want to
bite off with my two weeks of vacation time.

Can anybody comment on a simple repeater setup?

I have a bunch of old laptops (the ones I get when the members of my
organization get new ones) - mostly pentium class but a few 486 units. I
would like to get a few of those flash-IDE-drives (I can borrow a few from
Transcend) and run a solid state 802.11b repeater. I would love to use the
NEC S/50 486 units because those things are so small and light, but I'll up
it to a pentium if I need the extra power.

I know that there are a few ready-made linux flavors of repeaters that
might work, but what difficulties am I going to run into? I'm going to try
to get away with a single radio repeater which means that I'm going to halve
the available bandwidth, but the s/50 only has a single PCMCIA port.

        Peace,
        Blackrobe
