Could really use some help...

I have telco-return cable modem service using a
Motorola Surfboard SD3100D Cable Modem. In order to
access the Internet, I open my browser to a certain IP
address (192.168...) and get a configuration page for
the cable modem. On this page I instruct the modem to
dial, hang-up, etc.

I purchased a Microsoft MN-500 Wireless Base Station.
Everything worked on set-up because the the cable
modem was already dialed-up. However, when I tried to
access the cable modem's configuration page
(192.168...), I couldn't under any circumstances. MS
tech support says it can't be done. A buddy of mine
here in the neighborhood has the same cable service,
cable modem, etc. and is able to do everything - but
he has Linksys kit.

Is it really MS's product? Do I need to get Linksys or
someone else? Any suggestions on how to set it up?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA.
