The police are probably gathering criminal histories and personal profiles from the web ;-) clearly the public internet has *some* information that does not exist in the bureaus downtown... anyway, they can probably get a lot better thruput to do their stupid reporting stuff thru a WiFi portal than they can thru their older data terminal in the squad car. Maybe they're just surfing the blogs, sports scores, doing email, shopping online, etc. like everybody else.." It would be hilarious to snoop their traffic and figure out exactly what they're doing...
