Rain doesn't really affect it that much...

According to the telex faq:
2.4 GHz signals may be attenuated by up to 0.05 dB/km (0.08 dB/mile) by torrential rain (4 inches/hr).

So 2 miles in torrential rain only attenuates 0.16dB

Thanks Dan,
I actually will be getting the 19s. I was just
wondering about the narrower beam. And, I may be asked
to add 2 more APs to this network, and I figured if I
had a wider beam, I can keep the same primary antenna.
But since this is a area where there is a LOT of rain,
I definately need the fade margin...

Thanks

Sounds fine to me but unless there's a reason why
you want the smaller gain
antennas I would go with a pair of 24dBi parabolics
like Andrew/Conifer. My reasoning for this is if you can spare the extra
few bucks why not have
the larger fade margin. The other benefit in using
the higher gain antennas
is your beam width will be narrower and your
AP/bridge will be listening to
less noise. Your link will also be less "visible"
to prying eyes since
you're not spreading your signal across 5-15 degrees
in both directions. The only draw back is that it will be a bit harder
to aim but for a 2mail
link this shouldn't make a difference.

Hello All, I have a 2 mile link to make (bridge) using

Linksys

WAP11's. No real obstructions between, and I will

be

using 15 or 19 dbi Parabolic Grid directional

antennas

with 50 ft. of NLM400 cable. I crunched the

numbers at

one or two online calculators, and they say it

should

be fine.
Can any of you tell me your opinions on this link?

I

have never done one this far before.

Thanks
