Hello, I have a  question.  At  http://www.cablemodeminfo.com/quicktip-cabling-power-ethernet.html-ssi  the site describes what appears to be a quick and easy hack for sending power over Ethernet.  I am using a dlink 900AP+, in AP mode attached to
my computer by 15 meters of  Cat 5 cable.  The cable is in crossover mode.  I Followed the directions on the above site, and got the power to work fine.  The LAN link however, did not.  I did a search on the internet to ensure I had wired my crossover cable correctly, and found 1 page that mentioned that even though pairs 4/5 and 7/8 were totally wasted, they  still needed to be present.  I cut my power supply out, hooked it to some extra alarm system cable I had, and crimped new ends on my cat 5 cable, and now I have a working system, but with two separate cables. Is the cablemodeminfo web  page accurate?  Is it really that easy and I just messed something up?  Will this hack work with a straight through cable, but not a crossover?  Thanks for your time.
