Hi Dave, I have the same setup. Creating a Configuration Profile in the Orinoco client software with no SSID specified allows me to search for an available network. I found that when I looked for reasons that Netstumbler wasn't working. It turned out that the client software looking for a given SSID would "blind" Netstumbler, so having the no-SSID profile was the solution. As for the signal strength meter, if the cute little four-bar S-meter isn't enough, take a look at the Link Test and Site Monitor functions under the Advanced menu on the Client Manager software.
