That's consistent with my experience.  I've had WET-11's hooked into neighbor's houses
since last year when they came out.  I track the signal strength every 5 minutes from 
my
NoCat box with a Cron job, and pop the data into a database.  After a period of unknown
length with inactivity, it appears the WET-11's go to sleep.  Since my neighbor's never
complain (they did, a LOT, with the WAP11's freezing up), my hunch has always been that
they wake up with Ethernet traffic.

I'm running the original firmware that shipped with the devices (fear of losing Signal
Strength information is what kept me back!)
