Hi everyone, I am just wondering, with the new 54G gear coming out, if any off these cards will work under linux, I would like to build a box with similar functionality as a linksys WAP54G but under a linux system.

I have used the Linksys WAP11 and found that it was not fast enough to route my 1meg internet connection even over the Lan side and even worse over Wireless.

Under normal everyday conditions the WAP units would be fine but i play online games, I use linux firewalls such as IPCOP and ClarkConnect but upon replacing them with the WAP11 it couldnt keep up and i ended up with lost packets, Ping Surges etc etc etc. I turned off the Wireless side (return to cable) and things improved a little but not much. I want full wireless capabilities (54G if poss) and enough power to route lots of udp packets.

ive looked at m0n0wall but i cant see 54G support? does anyone know of any other similar projects

BTW, all tests on the WAP11 where with the latest firmware and about 5m distance.

Thanks

Richy
