-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I am moving to Pacifica. I'd like to do a fresh wardrive through the area, but with moving going on and all, I don't have time to 1) load up a laptop with FreeBSD, 2) build the bsd-airtools kernel mods and binaries, 3) shop for and buy a supported GPS, 4) figure out how to use it, and 5) deal with the million things that can/will/do go wrong along the way.
The info for Pacifica on nodedb looks really sparse: and out of date. Without any equipment at all, I stumbled into a cafe that has one of those national for-a-fee membership-based wireless access services (and the bartender expressed interest in offering his customers a free service, if someone will help him figure out how). There are probably many other (maybe even free) hotspots in the area that aren't yet mapped. Does anyone in BAWUG-land have a working wardriving/GPS setup and want to hang out for an afternoon or evening and wardrive the area? I cook: there's at least a free meal in it for you, plus picking rights through the old computer gear that I'm throwing out in the move. I'm available all this week, then, I'll disappear from network land until DSL gets installed at the new house:-/. Best to respond off-list.
