I just bought some cable and connectors, but the tool to crimp the
connectors costs between $40 and $60 dollars online.

I only need to crimp 4 connectors, (2 cables) so I'd rather not fork over
for the tool. My current project wouldnt require use of a crimper after
these cables are done.

Does anyone have this tool, a .429 crimper, for LMR-400 coax and N
Connectors, and is willing to let me use it? I could bring the parts to
any location and do the work in front of you, it should only take a few
minutes.

My project is this:
cantenna on a DirectTV dish on my roof in Bernal Heights, pointed
at San Bruno Hill, hoping to get on SFLAN.

Additional cantenna pointing across the
valley toward Silver Ave @ Princeton where another cantenna will be, to
share SFLAN with my buddy, and with whomever points their own antenna at
Bernal Hill (one block below the peak, facing San Bruno Hill). I have a
few more parts and the cable to reach from my comp to my roof on order,
and then I
should be up and running. I have already spent too much on what is really
a fun, but not needed project. The extra $ for the crimper would really
sting.

If you can help me, please reply to this list, or contact me directly at:

If any of the Bernal Hill wireless folk read this, drop me a line
regardless, we could collaborate. I see your networks via my cantenna, one
on Gates, one on Ellsworth, and a half dozen more
with non-location-specific SSID's.

Thanks,

-dave
