Thanks for the info Tim. Is there a specific reason that channel 6 is being used? >From my NetStumbler sessions, 6 seems to be everyone's default. I assume its possible that there is interferance when devices share a channel, wouldn't it be better to use another?
Also, that node info seemed to indicate it was in 2Mbit mode, any reason its not using the full 11Mbit mode? >media: IEEE 802.11 Wireless Ethernet autoselect <hostap> (DS/2Mbps <hostap>) Well, I have about given up on connecting to the BARWN node on SB. I have as good an antenna as I can come up with, ( 19" dish) and I have good LoS. Whatever is keeping me from connecting to the node I can't guess. Unfortunatly I have no LoS to any other nodes, so I will give the project a rest for a while. Thanks for all the help, especially Greg for his very generous help with my cables and antenna test, he definatly knows this subject thoroughly. Additional thanks to Tim for giving me some solid feedback and answering my rookie questions on the list. Also thanks to Eric S. for throwing ideas my way and offering to help test my alternative connection options. If anyone has an active wifi connection from SF proper to Mt. San Bruno via the 'BARWN-Public' SSID, please share your success story with me or the list, I would be keen to hear from where, and other details.
