http://tompaine.com/feature2.cfm/ID/8528 I've given up on trying to convince my neighbors to forego easy, reliable, "private", dumping-priced $35/month SBC/Yapoo DSL service (or "promotionally-priced" Comcast cable modem) for a complicated, weird, flaky, expensive, "shared" community WiFi network. I think after a few years of "broadband consolidation" shenanigans, they may be more eager to try something more open. By then, I can only hope that the gear and know-how needed to build community networks will still be available, open, cheap... and legal. - -ken - -- - --------------- The world's most affordable web hosting. http://www.nearlyfreespeech.net -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE/MebBe8HF+6xeOIcRAunVAJ4v9wRb22591/7o6Zzf3nhFacD+9wCg3n5v 45gHx81HGwz6JfrMSJhBBaQ= =npiF -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- general wireless list, a bawug thing <http://www.bawug.org/> [un]subscribe: http://lists.bawug.org/mailman/listinfo/wireless
