Hola!
I recently read/scanned;) through all the wi-fi books at the local
barnes && nobles and found that this book - "802.11 (Wi-Fi) Networking
Handbook"
by Neil Reid and Ron Seide is an excellent reference.
Note that the authors kinda push the cisco aironet line, but then again they
work for cisco. I'm not knocking the cisco line though, from the research I
have been doing they also appear to be one of the best industrial strength
access points.
On a side note, I'd like to hear any other opinions re: cisco vs. other access
points from a wi-fi hotspot point of view. A project that I am currently doing
involves rolling my own hotspot/access/authentication and I am looking for some
software for access control that can either (a) deduct minutes from a phone
card and/or (b) just control access and redirect the firsttime user to a
webpage
that can link to a back end credit card auth. system.
I will followup later with the list concerning my findings and also any
info from other people. Please respond to this request for info directly
to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Thanks all and I hope you enjoy the book!
Cheers,
Steve
