WIMAX is deep in the process of setting the technical boudaries of what will
qualify as a WIMAX product. In other words, they are implementing a
technical set of rules per band that will then enable vendors to produce
interoperable equipment. (I know this because we -- Alvarion -- were
principals in the development of 802.16a and we hold the VP and Treasurer
slots in WIMAX).

Accordingly, no one has any WIMAX certified product yet and no product today
that claims to be 802.16a can possibly make any claims of interoperability
(which IS the point of 802.16a and WIMAX reall, so it can create mass and
drive down cost).

I have the very latest full WIMAX presentation if you would like a copy.

Kind regards,

Patrick Leary

Subject: [BAWUG] 802.16/WiMAX/WMAN

Does anyone have up to the minute info on the stage of development with this
standard?

In terms of IEEE drafts and vendors producing equipment?

A current affairs discussion is what I am looking for really.

Cheers,

- Rob
