I am BRAND new to Linux. I used to work for the "Evil Empire", and know their products inside and out. I also really like most of the software that MS produces. However in my ever increasing search to expand my horizons, and under the constant ramblings of a few friends I decided to give Linux another try. ( I did this once 5 years ago and could never get it to load on the three computers I tried it on.)
So I set it up. (Major improvement from 5 years ago, it actually works as an operating system out of the box!) It runs some apps that are more or less stable. (Again better than 5 years ago).
However I cannot get my USB to 802.11b wireless device (Engenius 2511ub) to do anything with it. Engenius does not support Linux.
I tried downloading the driver, compiled it (This seemed ok after I had to install the entire code base for Linux ((God knows what I did there? I sure don't! However everything kept running, but still no net connection.)
So Can anyone please help me get it running so that I can get the linux half of this box on the web.
Know before you start that I know nothing about Linux.
I would really like to give Linux a fair shake, but if I can't get on the web to download more cool software and try things out with it. I have worked on this for over two months on and off, and this list is my last hope. If you guys don't come through, I am reclaiming the hard drive space for Windows 2000
