> "ewwwww....linksys "
We are about to review our recommendation for IEEE 802.11g.
The Linksys (with Broadcom chipset) IEEE 802.11g seems to be the leader (at least on paper).
We have been recommending the Orinoco Gold but with all the technology change and (confusing) changes to the product line, we are reviewing all vendors.
What would people recommend as the best 802.11g card? What about 802.11g/a combo cards (are they ready for prime time with certified drivers?).
Our minimal requirements are:
1. excellent driver support (built-in most OS), must have Windows driver certification.
2. price (students are very price sensitive)
3. good to excellent RF characteristic (no real need for external antenna on client cards but having that option is great)
4. conservative power consumption (this is where some cards really fail)
5. WPA support
