Horizontal, mostly (if there is any polarization at all.)

Most 802.11[a|b|g] cards have a "dongle" antenna as part of the card. Does anyone know the plane of polarization these cards represent when placed in a laptop which is on a level table? I am trying to decide whether it makes more sense to use horizontal or vertical polarization. If they use circular polarization I would like to know the sense, i.e. left-hand or right-hand.

Thanks!
