Dave, there are three different modes for wifi. BSS Mode, or standard Access Point to Client. http://www.streakwave.com/tutorial-BSS-Mode.asp ESS Mode, which is roaming on a subnet. http://www.streakwave.com/tutorial-ESS-Mode.asp IBSS Mode, or ad-hoc mode. http://www.streakwave.com/tutorial-IBSS-Mode.asp
You have a Graphite base station and a Snow Base station. These base stations will not link up. They are both behaving as an access point. You want to make a point to point connection. http://www.streakwave.com/tutorial-point2point.asp A point to point connection generally has an "access point" and a "client". Apple Airport Extreme has WDS (Wireless Distribution System) that lets you chain hotspots. But those features are not avaliable in Graphite or Snow. You probably can get a wireless bridge and make that connect to one of the Airport Base Stations.
