Hi,

I'm hoping that someone can point me in the direction of any information regarding the construction of pigtails, or related cables. Those suckers are expensive, and I would much rather invest in a soldering iron and precursor materials than buy a dozen premade... Googling hasn't yielded much of anything in terms of explicit directions.

Thanks

David,

I have looked into it, but the tools to do so are expensive, as are the supplies. At minimum you would need a crimper with the various "inserts" to fit different diameter cable, connectors and cable. Lots of places do not sell connectors in a quantity of one, because to do so would make it easier for you to make your own pigtail and not buy from them. Crimper, cable and 10 packs of connectors for each end would run you about $185 shipped, the same as about 9 pigtails. You may need a stripper as well, I'm not sure. If you only wanted to crimp one or two types of cable, you might be able to get away with a cheaper crimp tool.

At any rate, let me know how it goes because I'm interested to know how difficult it is to do.

Thanks
