Are you sure this is not a domain name resolution issue?

At the command line try pinging one of yahoo's addresses with
"ping 66.218.71.198".

If that succeeds try "host yahoo.com".
If you get an error, your domain name resolution is not working.
Let me know and we'll take it from there.
