Word has been slowly getting out. The WiFi Coop dhcpd has handed out IP addresses to 144 unique computers.
The Berkeley Marina network utilizes an 802.11b link to the upstream ISP, which has been providing about 3Mbps of real bandwidth. An upgrade to 5GHz technology is planned for the near future to push the upstream bandwidth to 18Mbps or so. A transparent proxy for web traffic is also in place to help speed up browsing. Bandwidth is symmetrical.
WiFi Coop is a community supported service. Modified NoCatAuth software sets quality of service for users based on their monthly membership fee (payed via paypal.) The WiFi Coop modified NoCatAuth package is available for download:
