Without knowing whether the receiver in these units is tremendously more sensitive, I too didn't understand how this was solving problems for customers. I can see how SBC or other broadband providers would want to offer a wireless option. I presume they called for greater power in order to solve customer-service problems of complaints about wireless that couldn't reach out to the deck and the third floor.
