[BAWUG] Can't see AirPort Extreme's signal. Options?

Working with client in a home. APE is upstairs (2nd story) in the 
extreme (!) corner of the house. Office is downstairs (ground floor) 
about 45 feet away. 4 walls and the floor are between. Can't get 
signal in office. If you stroll 10 feet closer to the APE, signal 
starts to work. No option of locating APE midway, easily.

Is the best approach to get a panel antenna such as the 18dB one here:

Or just replace the AirPort Extreme with a 200mW unit like the 
Engenius/Senao 2611CB3 plus:

Suggestions? Options?
