"Wireless Broadband Access Network Coordination (BANC) is a group of
fixed-wireless operators that are working together to minimize interference
and maximize reliability and spectrum efficiency."

NextWeb announced the formation of Broadband Access Network Coordination
(BANC) groups in Los Angeles and San Diego.

Participation in these groups is a key component of NextWeb's frequency
management program that addresses some of the wireless Internet service
provider (WISP) industry's greatest challenges - coordination of unlicensed
spectrum and reduction of interference. There are now three region-specific
BANC groups serving four of the nation's densest business broadband markets:
San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles and San Diego.

The BANC groups are independent organizations with many operators joining
and participating as members.

The new Los Angeles and San Diego groups have already attracted a number of
top regional fixed wireless service provider members. The participants are
primarily operations and engineering personnel from the respective member
companies who are individually building and maintaining vast fixed wireless
networks to bring competitive broadband services to the marketplace. The
open group is focused on pro-active cooperation among members in the
coordination of unlicensed spectrum.

"WiLogic appreciates the cooperative spirit and non-regulatory nature of
BANC. We strongly believe in working with other WISPs to provide the best,
most reliable wireless Internet service possible," said Jeff Hanks, vice
president of WiLogic. "As with our colleagues in the group, WiLogic feels
that this organization will help all of us maximize spectrum, and benefit
all parties. This BANC expansion is good for WiLogic and good for Southern
California."

Due to the tremendous growth and success of the broadband wireless industry,
the potential for signal interference has been greatly heightened. BANC
members work together to minimize interference and maximize reliability and
spectrum efficiency, primarily in the unlicensed bands. Thus, the
coordination among fixed wireless ISPs in the 2.4 GHz and 5.3/5.8 GHz
ISM/U-NII bands is a key factor in providing high quality service and
reliability to the largely business-class customer base.

Graham Barnes, CEO of NextWeb, created the idea of a coordination group back
in 2003. Several operators got together to discuss the potential benefits,
which led to the formation of the first BANC group. Barnes sees the
independent BANC groups as a great working model and encourages fixed
wireless service providers and other wireless operators to form BANC groups
in their own markets across the nation.

"NextWeb and the other BANC members have seen tremendous benefits from the
collective, collaborative nature of the group," said NextWeb CEO Graham
Barnes. "BANC is a very effective tool for unlicensed spectrum management at
the operator level. Effective spectrum use and management results in
increased reliability for the entire fixed-wireless industry."

With current high-speed business-class Internet service to more than 175
cities in California, NextWeb's service is scalable to speeds up to six
times faster than a T1 and typically saves businesses thousands of dollars
per year by eliminating the high cost of a traditional phone company T1. By
owning and maintaining its own telecommunications network and connections to
the Internet backbone, NextWeb's service completely bypasses telephone and
cable companies, providing customers with significantly more bandwidth at
substantially lower startup and monthly costs.

NextWeb CEO Graham Barnes will be speaking on "Regulatory Impacts On License
Exempt WISP Business Plans" with FCC experts at a small wireless event in
Washington DC.
