Can someone make a suggestion of a place to buy pannel antennas as well as what I believe are SMA Pigtails (the ones used on Linksys WAP11 as well as the newer WRT54G's.

There are two designs that fit over the WRT54G's existing external antennas: 1) a parabolic reflector:

2) a corner reflector

Claimed gain is 12db for the parabolic, 10db for the corner reflector.
The corner reflector is much easier to construct. Give it a try.
