FYI the 254mW is a setting of the SOC chip NOT of the RF chip, the output power 
not clean, if you have access to and spectrum
analyzer you can see this. Its sort of like the older Atmel hack that push the 
power output up on it. When you put the power up it
will interfere with all the channels in the band. I think there is more info 
amount this on the Sveasoft website also.

WRT54GS runs linux and has aftermarket firmware from http://www.sveasoft.com

That can bump the power to 254mW and looks to be totally customizable.  I love 
mine...
