I have been in contact with many members of the Department of Homeland Security, FCC and FEMA and I have secured a Letter of Access for hurricane Rita relief efforts for any group who is taking part in our combined efforts of bringing VOIP and Internet access to shelters and aid workers in affected areas. This letter is specific to saying we are allowed access into any area where we determine we need to be to bring in communications. It is not specific to any one state or location. It appears by all accounts to be a blanket access letter. I (or team leaders who I have talked to) will be giving this letter to anyone who has registered with an accessible online database which shows:

Who you are
Where you are working
What you will be doing
What group you are working with
How to contact you or your team leader
Date arrived at your base camp
Date you leave.

If you are part of the effort to help and you are not registered in an online accessible database with this information then please let me know your information and I will gladly help you get registered as part of the effort. Please use "Access Letter" in the subject line of your email to expedite the process. I am reasonably certain that Part-15, Community Wireless, WISPA, Radio Response and many other groups have registered their aid workers in some easily accessible database. Anyone who is leading a group should contact me to arrange getting you an access letter to the affected areas. To the best of my knowledge this is the only official document you will need to access any location where you need to work.

The letter is not to be copied or given to any other person unless approved to do so by your team leader of the base camp you are working with. This letter is to be destroyed when you are done with it. My name is attached to this document and I am vouching for this group. Please act accordingly and save the partying for base camp. :-)

I wish all the best to all of you who have donated your time, money, equipment and your heart to this effort. You have all done a very good thing and all the nation has been shown why WISPs know how to make the world a better place to be. We have done many great things and the effort is still running strong. I will next be working to secure federal funding for all your efforts. I do not know how successful this will be but I have had some very good discussions with those who know what it takes to get paid. It is obvious to everyone involved that this effort cannot run forever on nothing but donations. Look for future announcements on funding early next week.
You guys are all the best,
