Maybe. Then again, if 3650 wasn't contention based, it would be able to be used today, and providers would have more channels to choose from instead of all fighting for the one high power band.

MY fear is that all bands are just made into a stalled state.

So far stalled spectrum is... TV band SUB-700M, 5.4G, 3.650G, ITSF 2.4G lost, etc. It sure would have been nice to have those bands available.

Guys, this is EXACTLY why 3650 needs to keep it's contention based mechanism in place. If 5 gig had it too you'd all still be online!

I forwarded this information on to our FCC / NCS liason, Allan Manuel, and as he says below he will intervene if you need assistance. His contact information is included in his message below. He is a good guy and genuinely tries to help. We can call on him for anything related to communications issues requiring FCC intervention in the affected areas. He is working very hard right now on getting Access Letters to folks in the Wilma affected areas along with many other hurricane issues so he may be a little hard to reach but he does return calls unlike most anyone else from D.C. it seems. Allan is one of the good guys so do not take any frustrations you have out on him please. He will listen to your concerns but please be cordial. He has been the only person from D.C. I have dealt with directly that seems to genuinely understand what we are doing and has concern for trying to aid us in operating effectively on the front lines. Maybe someone will make him chairman someday. :-)
Best of luck gents,
Scriv

Before putting anything on a tower near new orleans I would suggest you
do a site survey first. Unfortunantly, Since the cell guys came into
town 5.7/5.8 does not work anymore. There is a wisp here that has a
meeting with the FCC today here in New Orleans to try to make them take
their 36db dishes down and play nice. Everyone wants to shoot 5.8 and it
just aint working no more. 5.8 gear is still up and hopfully it will
beable to be used again cause the 5.2/.3 is extremly crowded as you can
imagine. Joe

Cliff - don't forget my offer to provide you with tower space in
Harvey on the River - That is a 280ft tower just across from
downtown very close to the Naval Air Station. I have a few customers
there that would like service too.

I am looking for a WISP in the New Orleans area that would be
interested in providing service to my clients.

If you are interested in such an agreement, please contact me
off-list, or call me for more details.
