Yes, their gear does qualify for the recent FCC high power rules, allowing it to transmit at 8 db higher. My understanding is their technology takes advanatge of it.

In my questions, I'm not challenging the validity of the specific technologies (Beam forming, MIMO, etc), as its well documented how these various advanced technologies help improve wireless coverage and reliabilty. What I'm questioning is, Does Wavion really have a product built and available in BETA today capable of offering these technologies? Many times vendors get ideas or identify core technologies of merit, then make press releases for their Vaporware idea, in anticipation of getting investment funds, so they can start the R&D to go after making a product that uses such technologies. So I'm asking, how far along are they in the process, to delivering a commercial solution? Is it Vapor like WIMAX, that we won't see for a year in the US, or are they getting near production?

Is Wavion a chipset maker or a software (firmware/driver) company?

Another question is, will they be another dillusional company like Vivato that tries to sell their product at 20 times what its worth, or will they fall in line with companies like SkyPilot, that are actually making and innovating product at a price point designed for realistic ISP models?

To date, SkyPilot is the only company alive shipping product that takes advantage of FCC new high power rules (8db boost for directional beam antenna arrays). It would be nice for WISPs if SkyPilot had some competition :-)

The truth is, the technology already exists. Wether its been manufacturered on to a board and implemented in a package designed for outdoor deployment is another story.

A. MIMO does offer several significant advantages compared to non-MIMO. The use of beamforming improves signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in both directions thus increasing range and reliability. Being able to transmit multiple simultaneous downlink streams should increase per-access-point downlink throughput. The jury is still out on whether uplink throughput is increased.

Seems as if they are taking advantage of the most recent technology advancements not yet utilized by many. MIMO (Like Pre-N), Beam Forming (Like Vivato), HIGH Power Rules (8 extra DB for direct beam, like Sky Pilot).
