Have you seen the newer PICO DC-DC ATX PSU's? Input range from 6v-26V and as
well as the small form factor they also produce minimal heat. Have been
running a couple of newer VIA boards with fanless 1GHz CPU's with these in a
sealed enclosure just to see how much stick the set-up would take and so far
I haven't been able to crash the system. Think I need to add more heat to
the environment ;)

I have been through several DC-DC psu's, all of which failed, and each time,
they were destructive to the equipment they were hooked to.

I use a 350W inverter powering a fanless pent 233.
