30+ existing subs from that tower.....
Besides, I'm not putting up ANY WiFi based 5 gig gear. I'm not gonna go
down that interference road again.
I may change my mind for some really small systems, but those ones aren't
likely to have spectrum issues anyway so why bother?
I'm really liking Trango for my 5 gig gear. And the cost is SOOOO close to
what wifi runs. Plus it's much more robust.
I've got a couple of spots I'm more than a little tempted to put Alvarion
into. Even if I won't make quota with it. One 120* system, put in a 1 meg
res. speed cap and let my business customers still hit 8 or 10 gigs. Works
for me.
I just sold my second $400 residential trango account. They'll get up to 8
megs both ways and will pay the same $75 per month that the business
customers do. I can live with that! And I think I'll get more and more
teleworkers willing to spring for those amounts. Beats the heck out of a
gas bill these days.
This tower, however, has none of that. I just need to find a product
that'll be stable on top of it. One of my most difficult sites to get to,
and also my most troublesome. Gotta love that program! sigh

Why don't you do it in 5 gig and skip the 2 gig - amp?
The more I do this stuff the more I think 2 gig is short and 5 gig is
long.

Hi All,
I have to put in a system that'll do 17 miles ptp. I can do it today
with a 500mw amp and 8dB omni.
Anyone used one of these?

Is there any receive gain on them? If it's only -80ish receive
sensitivity it won't be able to do the same range as a standard radio/amp
combo.
I am space limited at that tower site so this would be a nice solution
that would allow me to gain back quite a bit of room. But whatever I put
in has to work with my existing customers at that site.
thoughts?
