Paul, I do this with all of my Compaq 3000R UPS's in the NOC. I can't help but warn you that these batteries when connected in a series will kill you (literally put you in the ground 6' deep) as the DC voltage has more than enough amps to do this. I accidentally touched my battery case with the "hot" wire and it threw sparks like I had a huge welder on the NOC!
It made my Mules rare straight up!
