Chicago should prove to be an interesting battleground for wireless broadband over the next few years, as both Earthlink and AT&T hope to build citywide Wi-Fi networks. Chicago is also going to be one of the first launch markets for Sprint WiMax </shownews/81062>, which the company says they'll offer at speeds between 2 and 4Mbps for around $55. The Chicago Tribune <http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/chi-0704200144apr20,0,6882142.story?track=rss> says both Earthlink, NextWLAN and AT&T have pitched Wi-Fi proposals for the city. Offering wholesale service over the network is a requirement of the city's RFP.
