Alan, I gave up on the inexpensive Wi-Fi cams. However, the best I've found is the Panasonic BL-C30A. It pans almost 180 degrees left and right and nearly that up and down by rotating a little ball in the case, not by rotating the case. It's VGA but better than others and never needs rebooting (as D-Links do a lot). It has all the options for e-mail/FTP upon various triggers or just watch it. It has "motion" or "clarity" mode. Clarity is a very good picture and motion sends the changes for low bandwidth and pretty good clarity...under $300.
I installed iQeye cameras. They're 3 megapixels (available from 2 to 5) and produce spectacular pictures. They have day and night modes. Day mode is as good as a fine digital camera. Night mode switches to B&W and sees much better than you would for the same scene...also in spectacular, high megapixel resolution. These require direct Ethernet connection. They are rugged and you can see the nose hairs of people 30 feet away...even at night. If you want, I'll send you an image from one of mine. You can see them at: http://www.iqeye.com/productlist.html and I think I paid a bit over a grand each. Costco has some terrific packages including a LOT of cameras and multi-hundred gig DVR. Their better quality packages include a Web browser interface to watch over the Internet...including all the security options you'd need: http://www.costco.com/Common/Search.aspx?whse=BC&topnav=&search=security%20c amera&N=0&Ntt=security%20camera&cm_re=1-_-Top_Left_Nav-_-Top_search So, that's my experience. . . . j o n a t h a n -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Alan Cain Sent: Tuesday, May 22, 2007 7:31 PM To: WISPA General List Subject: Re: [WISPA] Camera recommendation George Rogato wrote: > I need to do some outdoor ip security cams and server.
