Jake, We use Option 82 insertion for our IPTV network. Our set-top boxes are DHCP and upon a lease request Option 82 gives our DHCP server more information regarding our set-top boxes configuration like IP/MAC/Multicast info and TFTP server info for updating software. Regular DHCP would simply give you IP and MAC lease information obviously.
