It is quite public. Comcast is part of a group that invested in the new joint Clearwire/Sprint entity. Comcast invested $1.05B. Intel invested $1B. Time Warner invested $100M. Google is investing $500B. A few other are also in the picture in much smaller doses.
Sprint holds 51% ownership. Clearwire 27%. Clearwire will operate the WiMAX network under its brand name. They'll use Sprint real estate and other elements. Comcast and the cable ops will do the marketing. Google owns the search. It was very big news and assures that WiMAX will be in the U.S. in a big, big way and ahead of LTE by a few years. The move also kick starts other WiMAX plans that have been on hold in Canada and will influence developments elsewhere.
