That's actually a good point.

So, if you're going to protect gear in a hurricane, it becomes important 
to put the gear in some sort of other protective enclosure.

While just about any radio could be protected, what do you do about 
antennas?  They (particular omnis) must stick out and be exposed in 
order to work properly.
