A student of mine that was at one of our MikroTik Trainings actually scripted The Dude to detect when backhauls would go down in his ring and reroute traffic automatically within 5 seconds.

We have our backup links set that we have to switch to them manually, so then we know there is a problem, and we can control the traffic flow.
