The VDSL stuff is well proven.

The filter needs to be on the other end of the line - not at the 66
blocks. The modems have the filters built in. You would need to get to
the phone line in the room, redirect it to the modem, then back out the
modem to the phone jack.

The NetSys stuff is about 260 per connection assuming you fully populate
the VDSL switch. They come in 8 port and 24 port versions.

Subject: [WISPA] Using ADSL to transport 802.11 user traffic

I'm looking to bring wireless access into several hotel environments and
am hoping to leverage the existing phone lines for transport, rather
than having to run new ethernet lines.

I have heard of others using ADSL equipment, particularly Zhone, to do
so. They say that they just cross connect the regular 66 block with a
new filtered block and then the guest rooms don't have to have
individual filters for the modems.

Has anyone else done this sort of thing? And if so, what has been your
experience?

I'm hoping to cut the cost of cabling so that I can use cheaper access
points, rather than more expensive ones with multiple radios and have to
worry about meshing.
