> On another note... Do any of the armed forces sell off these towers? I > know they sell off about everything else through govliquidation. I have > not seen but two or three towers selling on there in two years of looking. > Every once and a while the govt will sell a few towers, but normally if they are in the air and they need to be removed, they bounce. GSA sold a couple of years ago some deathtraps in AR and LA that were still in the air, old rohn hollowtube towers, bolt together. They were sold to be taken down, but you could negotiate with the landowner to keep them where they were. Those were Corps of Engineer towers. When I say death traps, I mean just that. One of them at the Clearwater Dam in Piedmont MO killed a climber. The climber worked for a very good man - who still takes care of the kids left behind. Those of you who follow tower-pro know Bruce. The FAA sold some towers they never put in the air, ended up at a scrap car dealer in Kansas. Every so often you see them up for sale on the internet - the problem is they were engineered to be a bunch of little towers for airport use, and people advertise them as a couple of TALL towers. You can't have it both ways. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WISPA Wants You!
