My parents are both self-employed, about 60 years of age. Neither have ever had a heart attack, stroke, diabetes, etc... Their insurance cost the two of them almost $17,000 per year, and that is with a $2500 or $5000 deductible. They shopped and shopped insurance. They will find someplace a little cheaper, but within a year or two the cost is right back up there. It is almost like one of them is working just to pay for health insurance, at least 6 months or more of the year. Something needs to be done, I just do not know what.
