Although I like the Article, the Headlines are misleading, and spinning the FCC's statements. I'm not sure the headline's conclusion is what the FCC said. What the Report said was that.... It will cost 3-4 times more to bring FTTH. It also said The FEds dont have a plan to pay 60 billion. But nothing prevented the suggestion of Fiber carriers (RBOCs and Cable Cos) from investing matching funds. For example, IF Telcos agreed t oinvest $40billion (and they have it), the Feds could give the other $20 million to them. What it really says is admission that US consumers need the Monoply companies's money.
Although, I'm gald we are finally getting some press suggesting common sense, that wireless is more affordable, and maybe we should be looking at what we need, not just what we want. I would like a Ferrari, but I settled for a mini-van.
