Whenever I use any item on what will become a radome, or paint for a radome,
I test it in the microwave like my last post. If the microwave makes it
hot, it is absorbing RF. Before I covered an omni with a piece of plastic
pipe, I would put a small piece in the microwave for 10 seconds and see if
it gets hot.

Friendly Regards,

Mike

there is probably Aluminum Oxide.

I have heard you can slip a piece of Schedule 5 black PVC over an Omni for 0
loss.

I took some cheap black enamel spray paint and sprayed down an omni
antenna. Thought was to perhaps keep ice off it in winter etc.
Clients all seem to drop by about 5db. Is that normal?
