I use Speedtest.Net for my own tests to verify my CPE settings. Yeah, sometimes it sucks but I have to change to a better server normally and I tell the customer the same thing. Right now we are defaulted to some B.S. speed test server with a 73ms ping time! WTF! 73MS???!!!
