Nothing, and I repeat nothing will stop a REAL direct lightning strike (other than multiple feet of spark gap).
All you can do is best practice and a little bit more for critical circuits. All this stuff though has been during good weather. No spikes, just day to day. I will burn a virgin power supply in the AM and drink a beer over it.
