In our conference call a few moments ago, Steve mentioned that there is a Snowe-Kerry Bill which is an alternative (protects unlicensed use of TV Whitespaces), however, I don't have any specifics on that bill yet. I just want to alert everyone about this and the time sensitive nature of this proposed legislation. At minimum we seek to delay movement out of committee or alter the language to meet our satisfaction. This legislation includes a repacking and auctioning off of 84 MHz of spectrum in the Whitespaces bands. I ask that everyone look at his list of committee members and identify whether any of them are representing your state. It sounds like Senator Rockefeller and Senator Hutchison are sponsors of this bill. It is their goal to get it approved through committee before they go on recess at the end of next week. We will be creating a letter which will help you understand the issues with the bill from the wisp industry perspective and a whitepaper with alternative language. This may take an effort of phone calls to your Senators offices, email campaigns and hopefully some personal meetings while they are home on recess. Not doing so, may result in the loss of unlicensed use in the majority of TV Whitespaces which would result in very little spectrum available and equipment volumes that would not scale well to reduce costs. This is important, we ask that you all participate in some level. These are your elected representatives, they need to hear a public outcry concerning this legislation.
