20 other WISPs participated in many meetings with Congressmen/women and
Senators last week. Here are some of the articles that have been written
over the last week. It was a very busy week and I would like to thank and
congratulate all of those who participated.

We encourage all WISPs to join WISPA <http://signup.wispa.org/> and help
our effort as we band together as an industry to fight for national
recognition and stimulate the business and regulatory environment in which
you all participate.

I recently vetted the WISP Directory database and identified 1406 WISP
Companies in the directory. Of that, 353 were WISPA Members. Just think
what we could do with another 1000 members contributing to our lobbying
efforts financially.

Many thanks and kudos to Forbes Mercy, who worked tirelessly to put last
week's agenda together. Volunteer efforts like he produced over the past
couple months are amazing.

I was very happy to attend the WISPA Advocacy Days. Thank you Forbes, for
all the work you put into organizing this. It was amazing. All of the
offices of congress that we visited were very open to us and I think in
general heard our message. For you WISPA members that did not attend, look
at the recent news on the wispa.org home page.

The messages I heard most often were:

Where have you been.

We see the mobile wireless, cable and ILEC's here all the time.

We did not know you existed and how you are using spectrum.

Keep us informed and visit again and often.

They did not know the value of unlicensed spectrum.

They did not realize the major areas we serve in rural America.

Several of the things I took back were:

Get every WISP possible to join WISPA. Go talk to you competitors and get
them to join.

Get every WISP on the National Broadband Map (even if they don't belong to
WISPA), to stop the Connect America Fund (replacing USF) from funding your
competition.

Get Every WISPA member to enter their ZIP codes in the database for the
WISPA map.

Get involved with local, state and national political entities to tell them
who you serve and how you do it. Your personal business stories on your
WISP have more impact than any other information source. Meet your congress
men and women when they come to town. Invite them and/or their aids to
local meetings that involve economic development thru the Internet.
