I am trying to actually compile an active inventory of our equipment that comes in new and de-activated equipment in storage. Our billing system keeps track of all of our equipment assigned to our customers, un-assigned and at our towers. Each item on our billing system also has a spot for a unique serial number. I would like to have something that we could print out an inventory or stock number, something that is unique to that piece of equipment. Maybe something like a small label printer capable of printing one label at a time to mark the equipment. Would be nice to also reprint certain numbers of the original label is damaged for we had to re-case a radio board. I have a second location 3 hours away so it would be nice for my tech to just tell us the unique number on the board as opposed to logging into the equipment to pull a MAC address. I am not interested in labeling currently installed equipment, just stuff that I have in hand, and we would label installed equipment if we had to visit the site for a service call.
We currently use Quick Books, not for billing, but for our payroll, taxes and such, but we have never used any of the inventory, Purchase Order and other features of that software. I might have what we need in QB but few people have access to it and the do are unaware of those features. Having a bar code scanner would be cool to scan and enter newly arrived equipment from our distributors would be cool as well I appreciate any input Heith
