Can anyone explain this?

I am using NetStumbler to do a signal survey at a user's house. Plugging his external
aerial
cable into my laptop I get a good signal for about a minute, then no signal at all for
about
a minute, then a good signal, then none....

I have tried holding the connector still so that a dodgy connection is ruled out. But
this
makes no difference.

Can anyone explain why I may be getting an on/off/on/off signal? I have seen this
effect at
two other sites I have visited (but not at all sites!). The only commonality that I
can see
between the sites with problems is that they can all see more than one AP/Repeater on
the
same SSID and Channel.

Any ideas about this would be gratefully received.

Bill
